MISSIONARY PROJECTS
In early 2016, we were made aware of a missionary to remote Panama and Belize whose generator had failed. We took up a collection and voted to add from our general funds to purchase a new generator so he can continue reaching souls in the wilderness. On March 20, 2016, we presented missionaries Robert and Vickie Norman with a check to purchase a generator they located in Panama City, Panama!
CHILDREN AND YOUTH PROJECTS
In July 2016, Reel Men of God provided assistance for SignClub’s hearing impaired children’s fishing camp. We sent volunteers for two Tuesday mornings to help teach these children about fishing and aquatic life in Old Hickory lake. Pictured is the group of children attending.
Each year, Reel Men of God hosts the young men from the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home for a day of fishing, boating, and fellowship. We all have a great time each year! Lunch is included, and the young men keep their new poles for opportunities to fish during the year. This annual event is documented in our Photo Album section under the “About Us” tab.
In 2013, Reel Men of God was able to provide a desktop computer system to a graduating young lady in Gallatin who was headed to college through a generous corporate donation. Again in 2014, we were given the opportunity to support the Tennessee Baptist Children’s home with two Dell laptops to ge given to two graduating young ladies headed to college. Pictured at right are Sarah Goehring, director of the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home in Brentwood, TN and Larry McClure, president of Reel Men of God.
In late 2014 and early 2015, Reel Men of God was able to aquire two laptops and a very powerful desktop computer from our corporate sponsor. These computers were presented to the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home in January 2015 for use by 3 high school seniors who will be attending college after graduation. This is a record number of graduates heading to college from the TBCH, and Reel Men of God is proud to be a part of their continued education. We thank God for the opportunities he has given us!
In 2012, Reel Men of God was blessed with a corporate donation of computer equipment to be refurbished and distributed to deserving young men planning to attend college next year, but unable to afford a laptop or desktop computer to take with them. Don Jarvis, of AllPro Rods, was also able to obtain a significant quantity of very slightly used men’s and boys’ clothing. Our close relationship with the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home in Brentwood, TN was a logical starting place for the gifts. Other recipients were also located and qualified. We hope this encouragement will energize these young people to excel!
Clothing donation for the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home commissary, and a Dell laptop computer for Thaddeus, who will be continuing his education next fall.
2010 Children’s Christmas Gift Project
Our Reel Men of God Christmas package included an All Pro Tennessee Handle Spinning Rod, Shimano spinning reel, Berkley Big Game line, two Plano boxes filled with hooks, sinkers, Rattletraps, jigs, and a wide assortment of soft plastics and spinnerbaits packed in a Lee Company tote bag.
These are just a few of the recipients of the Christmas packs! We were thankful to be a part of their son’s 2010 Christmas!
This Christmas Gift Project began with a generous donation of baits and tackle belonging to the late Patrick Smith, a well-known avid fisherman in Middle Tennessee. THANK YOU to the Smith family and to Patrick’s fishing partner, Mark Pfaff, who made this a special Christmas for 12 young men in Middle Tennessee!
